Repairs that are your responsibility
Our Property Care team provides a range of repairs and maintenance services to ensure your home is safe and fit for purpose.
There are some basic, every-day repairs and maintenance tasks that are the responsibility of our customers to carry out, as outlined in our Repairs and Maintenance policy and referenced in your Tenancy Agreement.
To help you carry out these tasks, we’ve put together some handy how-to videos and advice:
How to change a lightbulb
How to unblock a sink
How to unblock a toilet
How to find your electric meter and fuse box
How to stop your water supply
Removing condensation from windows
Adjusting room thermostats and radiator TRV valves
Using extractor fans
Lock change
Get in touch with a reputable locksmith who can carry out the job quickly and safely. Use a local directory or trusted comparison site to find a suitable tradesperson.
Top tips to prevent lost keys:
- Leave a spare with a trusted neighbour or friend
- Thoroughly check clothing such as coat or trouser pockets
Broken window
We’ll always make your property safe and will replace the glass if it’s criminal damage.
If it’s accidental damage, find a reputable glazier who can carry out the job quickly and safely. Use a local directory or trusted comparison site to find a suitable tradesperson.
Broken flusher on toilet
If your toilet isn’t flushing correctly or your flusher is faulty, we’ll repair this for you. In the meantime, did you know you are able to manually flush your toilet? Simply lift the lid off the cistern to find the flush lever which you can pull in the meantime.
Check your appliances if your electric is tripping
Electric tripping? It could be a faulty appliance.
Check your appliances by:
- Unplugging all electrical appliances including the big ones (washing machines, fridges etc) and switching off your cooker and shower at the isolation switch
- Reset your electrics at your fuse box, by flicking the switch that says RCD into the ‘on’ position
- Plug all appliances back in one at a time
- If the electrics trip when a particular appliance is plugged back in, it is faulty and will need repairing or replacing
If your electric is still tripping after carrying out an appliance check, please get in touch with us.
Treat small areas of light mould
To treat small areas of light mould in your home, mix one-part white vinegar and one-part water. Leave the mixture to work for an hour, then wipe away using a damp cloth.
If you prefer, you can also use a pre-mixed white vinegar mix or a fungicidal spray available in most DIY shops.
Find out more about managing moisture in your home on our dedicated page.
