18 new, green homes in Failsworth complete

We are pleased to announce that we have formally taken over the £4.9 million development at Hughes Close in Failsworth after roads and paths were completed just before Christmas.

The 14 four-bedroom and four three-bedroom sustainable homes on the brownfield site off Hughes Close - previously a derelict industrial unit – are part of our on-going plan to provide quality, affordable homes to meet local housing need and have been occupied since the summer.

Fifteen homes are shared ownership - helping local people to get a foot on the housing ladder at an affordable price. A further three are at an affordable rent – set at no more than 80% of the average local market rent.

“They are high-quality, sustainable properties built on redundant industrial land that are meeting the increased demand in our area for the right housing in the right locations.

“Since 2019, FCHO has delivered 711 new homes with several hundred more scheduled to be built – all of them meeting our green focus and sustainability targets.

“There is more to do but this is further progress by FCHO in helping to meet Oldham’s housing needs.”

The development was built by Holcombe Homes and we was able to take over the site after the roads and paths were completed before Christmas. Landscaping is still to take place but this can only happen when the weather improves.

Work started in 2022 and a £860,000 Homes England grant was received to help with its cost.
