Are you aged 66 or over? Have you checked if you qualify for Pension Credit?

You could be entitled to the Winter Fuel Payment and extra financial support.

13/09/2024

Pension Credit could help you – or someone you know - access the Winter Fuel Payment plus other financial support and we can help you apply. Don’t miss out, get in touch. That’s the message from our Community Services team this week.

Lorraine Black, our Head of Community Services says:

“Recent changes to the Winter Fuel Payment mean that pensioners who qualify for it will miss out on this plus other valuable financial help, if they don’t claim Pension Credit.

“We know the difference this money can make to customers, and we are here to help you, or family, friends or neighbours with advice and practical support to see if you’re eligible for Pension Credit. If you are, we can help you take advantage of this financial top up and put more money in your pocket.”

What is Pension Credit?

Pension Credit is a weekly payment for people of State Pension age and on a low income to help with your living costs. It’s based on how much money you have coming in and has to be claimed, it is not paid automatically.

The money tops up your income to a minimum of £218.15 per week if you’re single, or to £332.95 if you have a partner per week. You may get extra amounts if you have other responsibilities and costs, for example if you have a disability, or caring responsibilities or are looking after a child among others.

Not only that, but Pension Credit opens the door to other financial help like the Winter Fuel Payment, Housing Benefit, Council Tax reduction and a free TV license for over 75s and more to help you manage day-to-day costs.
