Celebrating our wonderful apprentices - National Apprenticeship Week 2023
06/02/2023
It’s National Apprenticeship Week 2023, and while we don’t need a special week to recognise our brilliant apprentices, it’s a great opportunity to shout about their contributions.
In 2022, we welcomed eight new colleagues into a range of apprenticeship roles across the business, as well as supporting five existing colleagues to embark on various housing and property apprenticeships while in their current roles.
Our Projects and Partnerships Officer, Danny Isherwood, is currently undertaking a Level 4 Apprenticeship with the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH). Danny says: “At the moment I am working four days a week in my role within the Stronger Communities team and on the remaining day, I am learning and working towards assignments. The assignments are very interesting and cover all elements of housing, from project management and HR to understanding assets and housing management.
This year’s NAW ’23 theme is ‘skills for life’ which embodies Danny’s drive to carry out an apprenticeship. Danny added: “I wanted to elevate my knowledge of the housing world and gain better understanding of the wider housing picture. An apprenticeship is a flexible way of being able to upskill and develop, while earning a living too. I’m really grateful to FCHO for this opportunity.”
We also caught up with apprentices Emily and Liam who joined us in August 2022 and January 2023 respectively, as well as Sarah Costigan, our Director of People and Culture, who had some words to say about the value apprentices bring to organisations.
Take a look…
