FCHO and Wolseley partnership to benefit our communities

06/08/2024

Our partnership with our building supplies provider Wolseley Managed Services has reached new heights, with an enhanced contractual agreement which will directly benefit our communities.

The new contract agreement sees social value commitments equating to thousands of pounds, with Wolseley pledging to financially support a range of community-focused initiatives as well as an innovative ‘profit-share’ scheme meaning any profit the supplier gains from the contract is shared with FCHO and invested back into providing services, providing certain criteria is met.

Some examples of how the money will be used, are:

  • A T Level equipment bursary – where we will support local residents from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with equipment needed to take part in vocational T Level qualifications, who otherwise would face barriers in accessing. For example, steel toe cap safety boots for construction courses
  • Our school uniform appeal – ensuring children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds have access to school uniform
  • Our annual Mission Christmas efforts – ensuring local children who may not receive a gift for Christmas, wake up to a present on the big day
  • Contribute to digital inclusion activities, which will see us partner with an external provider, as well as local voluntary and community groups, to deliver sessions to local people who struggle with technology. The activities will be free to access with the end goal being to help local people who are facing barriers to technology, and make sure they are able to get online and access crucial services

Wolseley has also pledged to attend and support our organised colleague and community volunteering days.

Kristel Schirwing, our Support Services Manager in Property Care, said: “We always aim to make sure we get extra value out of our contracts to ensure the money we spend directly benefits our communities, and we’re proud to have partners like Wolseley who share our commitment.

“To see tangible commitments formalised in a contract shows true investment in partnership working from Wolseley. We’re able to track exactly where their contributions go, and measure the amazing impact it will make, both for us as a business as well as our local communities.

“It’s a fine example of joint working, and I’m looking forward to seeing the positive outcomes we will jointly achieve.

Glen Scorah, Managing Director at Wolseley Managed Services, said: “Wolseley Managed Services’ perception of what constitutes social value, as well as what FCHO and their communities want, has evolved over time.

“Wolseley Managed Services work to the principles of the Social Value Act 2012 which places the economic, social and environmental well-being of the local area at the forefront of operations, and supports First Choice Homes Oldham in creating better outcomes for the local area.”
