First shared ownership homes in Kirklees reserved

Shared ownership properties at our first new-build scheme in Kirklees have received a terrific response, with the first five homes already reserved, having received 117 expressions of interest from house buyers.
Homes at the Castle View development are among 50 mixed tenure, two and three-bedroom family houses that we have secured through a section 106 agreement at Persimmon Homes’ 250-home project near the village of Netherton.
We are partnering with the national housebuilder to deliver 31 two-bedroom and 19 three-bedroom homes at the site.
Of these properties, 27 are for shared ownership, helping local people to get a foot on the housing ladder at an affordable price, and 23 are for affordable rent which is set at no more than 80% of the average local market rent.
Phased handovers of the new homes began in May this year and will continue until the project’s completion in late 2025.

We are delighted with the level of response to shared ownership properties here and it demonstrates we are building the right product in the right area.
“Forging strong links with major housebuilders and agreeing Section 106 agreements, as we have done here with Persimmon, are among the ways we are scaling up delivery of desperately needed new homes and moving closer to our target to build 1,100 new, high quality, energy efficient properties in Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside, Kirklees and Calderdale 2020-2026.

186 more new homes due for completion by the end of 2023/24
In this financial year we are due to complete 186 new affordable homes in Oldham and surrounding areas, and commence with 169 starts on site. Work is currently underway on 328 properties at 11 development sites in Oldham, Rochdale and Kirklees.
