Milestone reached for our new homes at High Barn Phase 2
26/07/2021
Our latest housing development in Royton has reached an important milestone this week, with the roof nearing completion at our High Barn Phase 2 scheme.
Now the roof timbers of the building are in place, the 16 one-bedroom apartments have moved another stage closer to completion.
Our development partner, North-West based Robwood Construction, is delivering the £1.7m project on a brownfield site located near Royton centre. Work began in February this year and the homes are due for completion in January 2022.
Joel Owen, our Director of Development said: “It’s great to see the rapid progress being made at this site and a big thanks to all the team involved on reaching this point. There is high demand for one bedroom properties in our borough and this scheme will help us meet local housing need and provide customers with high quality homes.”
Sustainability is a focus for us and the use of timber frame construction at this development site offers a number of benefits. These include lower environmental impact through use of sustainable timber along with reduced waste, increased insulation, and faster speed of construction. Once the building is complete customers will benefit from modern homes, which are fit for the future with lower energy bills.
The apartments at High Barn Phase 2 are part of our ambitious plans to build a further 750 high quality, affordable new homes in Oldham and surrounding areas by 2026 to help improve the lives of local people. This year in Royton we have already delivered 11 three-bedroom and four four-bedroom family homes at the £2.8m Royley scheme, and a further six four-bedroom, eleven three-bedroom and six two-bedroom homes, along with six one-bedroom apartments are complete at the £4.7m Hillside development in Sholver.
Work is currently underway in Littleborough, Rochdale where we are building four one-bedroom apartments and eight two-bedroom and eight three-bedroom family homes at our Phoenix Ironworks development. Homes are due to be finished in November this year. We are also transforming vacant land and creating ten two-bedroom and 28 three-bedroom family homes at our £6.1m Cherry Ave project in Alt, Oldham, which is due for completion in August 2022.
