New homes at West Vale enter final phase
19/11/2024
We've reached the next exciting point in our West Vale development, as work at the scheme of 88 modern, eco-friendly, mixed tenure homes has entered its final phase.
The 26 two, three and four-bedroom houses for shared ownership are almost complete internally and our contractor partner, Caddick Construction is now putting the final touches to surrounding landscaped areas, fencing, driveways and footpaths.
All houses at West Vale are for shared ownership under our Fabric Living brand, helping local people to get a foot on the housing ladder at an affordable price.
We will start to take handover of the houses later this month, and the first shared owners are anticipated to move in at the end of this year and into early 2025.

Elsewhere at the development, the block of 62 one and two-bedroom apartments is shaping up for completion too. Interior finishing trades like decorating and flooring plus final electrical and joinery are underway, and externally the brickwork façade is almost finished and landscaping around the building is moving forward.
This keeps us on track for signing customers up for their new apartments in early 2025. All of these will be for affordable rent and allocated in line with Oldham Council’s Allocations Policy.
In line with our green ambitions, all homes at West Vale are being built to exceptional sustainability standards. Each property will be off gas, with a high energy performance rating, and use the latest low carbon technologies including air source heat pumps to help residents save energy and money.
Houses at the development also use a timber frame system which has the advantage of sustainable, superior factory-built quality combined with high specification insulation. In use, the design will help residents to heat their homes for less and keep them warm for longer.
Commenting on progress at the West Vale development, Steve Agger our Executive Director of Homes said:
“As an anchor organisation in the borough we are committed to supporting Oldham Council to address the local housing emergency.
“Building homes for shared ownership and affordable rent and taking a green approach as we have done here is part of our plan to increase the amount of affordable, energy efficient housing in Oldham and surrounding areas and improve the lives of local people.
“It’s fantastic to see the new properties almost ready for residents to make their home and I look forward to seeing the finished results.”
