Update on our Board
25/04/2023
This week we are sharing an update on our Board of Non-Executive Directors (NEDs), as our current Chair's term in office comes to an end.
After six and a half successful years, Ged Lucas, Chair of our Board will be retiring on 30 April 2023, following completion of his full term of office.
Ged took up the role in 2016, providing strong leadership for the Board through an unprecedented period including the Covid-19 pandemic. Most recently he was instrumental in supporting us to retain our G1/V1 grading - the highest possible rating for governance and financial viability - in an In-Depth Assessment (IDA) by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) last year.
Ged makes way for Amanda Harris as Interim Chair, who has been an FCHO Board member since 2018, and is currently our Senior Independent Director on the board.
Amanda is a highly experienced non-executive director and her appointment as Interim Chair for a period of transition until a new Board Chair is recruited later in 2023 provides continuity and the opportunity to build on the successful work Ged has overseen.
The FCHO Board wishes to thank Ged for his dedication to his role as Chair, providing strong leadership through an exceptional period and making an invaluable contribution to FCHO's successes.
Ged Lucas commented: “I would just like to say it has been a pleasure and a privilege to be the Chair of FCHO. I have enjoyed my time here and am pleased to be leaving the organisation in the hands of Amanda Harris, Senior Independent Director who will do a great job as interim Chair of the Board.”
On her appointment as Interim Chair, Amanda said: “It has been an honour to work with Ged and have his skills and knowledge to steer and challenge us, so we are the high performing, customer focused housing association we are today.
"I look forward to starting as Interim Chair in this exciting period for FCHO and continuing our mission to deliver homes we are proud of and improve lives."
Delroy Beverley, our Chief Executive added: “On behalf of all FCHO colleagues, thank you for your leadership and kudos for your next journey. Whilst I have only recently joined the organisation, your stewardship, and legacy is immediately clear. We'd all agree that staff are our most valuable asset, nothing can be achieved without the ‘authorising environment’, which is integral to the ‘Public Value’ construct. In public life we are here to serve others, and you have done so with great distinction. I’d like to welcome Amanda into her role as Interim Chair of our board and look forward to working with her and the rest of the board closely on this next exciting chapter of FCHO’s important history.”
