We've signed deals to bring 28 new homes to Royton and Failsworth

We have signed deals with North West housebuilder, Lancet Homes, to build 28 affordable new homes in Royton and Failsworth.
The £7.7m investment will revitalise former brownfield sites in the towns and is part of our strategy to deliver 1,100 new, high quality, energy efficient homes in Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside, Kirklees, and Calderdale between 2020-2026 to help meet housing need and improve the lives of local people.
Fourteen two and three-bedroom homes are planned at sites on Radcliffe Street in Royton and Hardman Street in Failsworth.
Each scheme will offer local people a choice of tenures, including shared ownership properties to make home ownership possible for more people, as well as homes for affordable rent – set at no more than 80% of the average local market rent.
Work is underway at both developments and homes are due for completion in winter 2023.
Joel Owen, our Director of Development, said: “Demand for affordable homes in Oldham continues to outstrip supply and we’re working hard to do our bit to address this.
“Getting into contract on these exciting new, mixed tenure schemes with Lancet Homes puts us another step closer to achieving the targets in our development strategy and creating more much needed, quality homes that meet housing need today and are fit for the future.”
Lancet Homes’ Surveyor Ben Scandrett said: “We’re delighted to be working with FCHO to deliver these two great schemes. The collaboration works extremely well with Lancet Homes taking on the role of land acquisition, securing planning through to build completion with FCHO inputting throughout the process. We very much look forward to growing this valued relationship to help deliver more high-quality affordable homes in the region.”
The new properties at Radcliffe Street and Hardman Street are our latest in the Royton and Failsworth areas.
In the last three years we have delivered 27 one and two-bedroom apartments and 20 three and four-bedroom family homes in Royton at our Holden Fold, High Barn Phases One and Two, and Royley developments. Work on 30 one and two-bedroom apartments at our Shaw Street build is in progress, due for completion in winter 2023.
In Failsworth, we completed ten smart, green apartments at Albert Street West and Woodhall Street in 2020. Eighteen three and four-bedroom family houses are under construction at Hughes Close and will be ready for customers later this year.
We currently have another 360 homes on site at 13 developments in Oldham, Rochdale and Kirklees and are set to complete 137 houses and apartments for shared ownership and affordable rent in this financial year to help meet housing need.
