Welcome to Sabihah Khalil, our trainee Board member
08/03/2022
This week we welcome Sabihah Khalil, who has recently joined us as our trainee Board member.
We’re delighted to have Sabihah onboard to bring passion, creativity and a different perspective and viewpoint to the discussions at Board meetings – helping make our homes and neighbourhoods even better places to live and influence how we do things.
Sabihah is from Oldham and is currently studying LLB Law at The University of Manchester.
We caught up with her to find out more…
What motivated you to join our Board?
I’ve lived in Oldham all my life, and I want to make a positive difference to others.
I’m particularly interested in helping the disadvantaged and improving social mobility for young people, and over the years I’ve been involved in a range of community work.
I’m extremely excited about being part of FCHO and getting an insight into what the housing sector is doing to help Oldham and its residents grow further.
What have you learned about being part of the Board so far?
I’ve not been a part of the Board for long, but I’ve learnt that listening and understanding are crucial, and it requires a lot of empathy for the local community, customers, and social issues.
Through talking to the Executive Team, I realise that a lot that goes into running the company - most importantly the balance between customers and the company. My mentor, Jean Mira, is supportive and provides me with a lot of the context behind topics as I’m learning.
Tell us an interesting fact about you.
This is a hard question! Maybe a fun fact about me is that I really enjoy watching foreign language films!
Thanks Sabihah!
We’ll be keeping in touch with Sabihah to learn more about her journey with us. Look out for more news coming soon.
